Motor Nirvana! A competitive small motor with long life, high power, integrated drive/control electronics and constant torque over its' entire speed range.

Unfortunately, small motors frequently require additional large multi-stage gear reduction units to achieve the torque and speed requirements of the system. This increases cost for the system designer as well as requiring additional space within the system. The trend in modern electronics to distribute/decentralize intelligence throughout the system has also increased cost for system designers as separate drive and control electronics frequently need to be designed.

VDC 3-49.15

Performance
For the first time, 100% speed control and full torque from full speed (4000rpm) to 0 rpm are coupled with high power (105W) and performance (250mNm) in smaller dimensions (63mm dia x 52mm). The motor is 42% smaller and 32% more powerful than alternatives in this class. These are the key features that distinguish the VDC 3-49.15 (24vdc/48vdc) from any other motor in the market place.

Design Flexibility
Bespoke development: A unique multi-pole magnet in the rotor housing and a corresponding number of poles at the stator winding deliver greater coverage of magnet and stator pole at all times and therefore constant torque at all speeds. As a result, the number of stages of the gearbox is reduced or eliminated along with associated costs for the designer.
Integrated electronics with field-orientated control supply the stator winding with voltage required for sinus commutation. Consequently, acoustic noise is reduced whilst operating efficiency increases. Variable current limitation per analogue nominal value and varying additional input/outputs provide unparalleled drive functionality.
Position controller, single turn absolute encoders and RS-485 interface are available. Two analogue, four digital inputs and three digital outputs can be used for integration whilst BUS communication is available for changing performance parameters during operation or for receiving motor data for further processing. A special, application-specific motor configuration is possible by simple programming of the control electronics saving further costs.
A fully sealed cable connection is a separate module to the motor and enables further flexibility in the designing of interfaces and functionality.
Purposely designed bearings increase service life from 20,000 hours to 40,000 hours.

Applications
Both motor and integrated electronics fulfil all requirements relating to medical EMC and creepage paths. This allows adoption in a variety of equipment such as dialysis pumps etc. whilst the integrated BUS system enables use in industrial automation for adjustment and feed drives. The sensitive speed control in conjunction with the adjustable torque limitation allows use in packaging and textile industries where fast adjustment is required dependant on materials used, e.g. for coil and winding drives. Thanks to its 4-Q controller, the high overload capability of 2 x rated torque and the digital fault output, the BUS drive is suitably optimised for electronic gears such as letter sorting systems and other high data dependant systems.
The integrated electronics enable operating data and error messages to be transmitted to external terminals if required.

The VDC3-49.15 can be used in an unprecedented variety of applications and industries whilst offering valuable cost savings for system designers worldwide.
