A Cooler Solution for Equipment Designers With PAPST's New 4200N Megafans

PAPST's new generation 4200N Series Megafans offer a breakthrough in equipment cooling with greater airflow and lower noise to help solve the problem of increasing heat dissipation and noise in today's smaller and more complex equipment.

The 4200N Series Megafans measure only 119 x 119mm square and 38mm deep, yet provide airflows from 59 cfm (cu.ft/minute) right up to 106 cfm with noise levels significantly lower than conventional alternatives.

The fans are the latest to make use of PAPST's unique DC Megafan technology, which features a new highly compact motor design. The main advantage of the smaller motor hub is that larger impeller blades can be used. This in turn allows either a higher airflow and greater cooling to be achieved from the same size fan, or the same airflow with a lower fan speed resulting in reduced fan noise and improved fan lifetime. The fans also feature quiet SINTEC bearings, unique to PAPST, offering lifetimes of up to 80,000 hrs (L10 service life at 40°C) whilst being inherently more resistant to shock and vibration than traditional steel ball bearings.

The higher efficiency of the new fans means they can operate with up to 7% less power, which also helps reduce equipment temperatures, since less heat is contributed by the fan.

The new 4200N Megafans are available for operation from 12 and 24V DC supplies making them ideal for a wide range of electronic equipment including telecommunications, computer and industrial systems.

These DC fans are also ideal for use with PAPST's latest thermal management systems such as the new System 3000, which allow fan speed to be controlled depending on equipment temperature, again reducing noise and prolonging fan lifetimes. When used in multi-fan installations such as fan trays, the higher efficiency of the new fans means that higher levels of airflow can be achieved within a standard 1U tray.

As with other PAPST fans, the new DC Megafans are fully protected against reverse polarity, rotor blocking and overloading, and use fully electronic commutation with all electronics integrated within the fan housing.
