New 127mm Megafans can deliver 20% more air flow and save space
With 20% greater air flow than earlier generation fans, the new Series 5200 Megafan from Papst will enable engineers to use this 127mm square product in place of larger, conventional fans.
Alternatively, they will be able to increase the air flow within a system, thereby improving cooling and system reliability, without any increase in noise. The fans are just 38mm deep and use high reliability, low noise, ball bearings. The available choice of Megafans has increased from three to nine models since their launch, enabling engineers to closely match products to individual requirements for optimum system performance.
Available in 12V, 24V and 48V DC versions, Series 5200 Megafans offer airflow rates from 110.1 to 148.3 CFM with noise levels from 43dBA to 51dBA. Power requirements range from 4.6 Watts to 9.8 Watts. Despite their high specification, investment in automated manufacturing by Papst ensures that these products are very competitively priced.
Megafan technology is achieved through the use of smaller, electronically commutated, external rotor motors. This leaves more room for the fan impellers so that more air movement can be achieved or, by using slower fan rotation, a given airflow can be produced with reduced noise.
Series 5200 Megafans have integral electronic protection against reverse polarity, blocking and overloading. The fan and its housing are made from fibreglass reinforced plastic and the operating temperature range varies from -30 to +55 °C to -30 to +75°C, depending upon the model.
