Papst football match raises over £300 for cancer fund
In an event that raised over £300 for the Marie Curie Cancer Fund, employees of fan manufacturer Papst recently played in a sponsored football match against a team from the newly formed QinetiQ (formerly DERA, the Defence Evaluation & Research Agency). The mixed teams were made up from employees who had travelled from all over the country to be at the event.
Although the word charity was not one that sprang to mind on the day - both teams displayed a high degree of 'competitive' spirit - everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event, helping to raise £238. The match ended with a win for QinetiQ, beating Papst 4 - 1. As well as the sponsorship for the match, a raffle with prizes donated by both companies also contributed a further £100 to the Marie Curie Cancer Fund.
Both companies have pledged a return, fund raising match next year, and Papst players are already training hard to avenge their defeat.
