Axial fan offers high efficiency and high ambient operation for cost effective 'quiet' applications

Offering industry-leading levels of efficiency, ebm-papst Automotive & Drives' 'E' Megafans are the ideal choice for cooling solutions where lower power consumption and low noise are required. Available in 60, 80 and 92mm sizes, the fans will help designers to meet energy efficiency legislation and stringent OEM specifications at very cost effective prices.

As well as automotive and industrial applications the fans will also find favour in applications where low noise levels are required such as digital set top boxes or 'quiet' power supplies. A noise free air figure of 3.5-3.6Bels ('L' variant low speed fans) and 4.6Bels ('M' medium speed fans) is specified for the fans.

Further broadening the scope and appeal of ebm-papst's 'E' Megafans, the units are able to operate in very high ambient temperatures. The Sintec sleeve bearing equipped E Mega L fans feature a permitted maximum ambient of 85°C - a 30% improvement over previous models, and for the M versions, 75°C. Ball bearing versions are also available.

The 'E' Megafans utilise a power hall effect IC that enables them to achieve lower power consumption and higher operating temperatures. The power consumption of the fans is reduced by 25% compared to previous models and units from competitors. For example, power consumption for the 8412NGLE 80mm 'E' fan is just 0.5W at 1500rpm when operating from a 12VDC supply. However, the supply voltage can be varied from 8 to 15V to simultaneously control speed, power consumption and noise level.

Service life at 40°C for the electronically commutated external rotor motor fans is 80,000hrs for L fans and 75,000hrs for M fans. Electrical protection against reverse polarity, blocking and overloading is provided, and the 'E' fans offer extremely low EMI.
